Technical Tour
Tour(s) of Amtrak’s Joseph C. Szabo Chicago Control Center have been arranged for the morning of Wednesday, June 3rd. There are two separate one hour tours: 8:30 am and 9:30 am. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants each and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.Description
Amtrak’s Joseph C. Szabo Chicago Control Center oversees 583 train movements daily at Chicago Union Station. Nearly 130,000 passengers of both Amtrak and METRA rely on the center to oversee their journey. Additionally, nearly 1,000 freight cars a day pass under the Center’s watch. Chicago Control Center also dispatches the 110 MPH Michigan Line as well as New Orleans.
- Attendees will meet at the Great Hall of Amtrak’s Chicago Union Station, which is located at 225 S. Canal St., Chicago Illinois at 8:20 am and 9:20 am.
- No photos, and people have to be able to descend/ascend stairs.
- Attendees must bring proper valid identification.
- Preregistration is mandatory.
